Project Manager for Streets and Parks

Umeå Municipality is growing and our ambitions are high.

Streets and Parks is responsible for planning, building, managing, and developing the municipality's streets, pedestrian and bicycle paths, parks, squares, and public spaces along with associated facilities. Streets and Parks is also responsible for transportation services and parking permits.

The municipality's public outdoor environments should be well-maintained, safe, secure, and accessible. This is to provide conditions for a well-functioning everyday life for all residents of the municipality, throughout the year. We are now looking for a project manager for Streets and Parks!

Streets and Parks has about 120 employees, and the project and planning department is located in the city hall area. The department consists of 10 project managers, an environmental and mass management coordinator, and our mission is to:

• Coordinate and collaborate, design and procure, build and follow up on the municipality's construction/infrastructure projects.
• Create conditions for managing and owning all of the municipality's facilities, resource-efficient, robust, and safe.
• Contribute technical expertise in the municipality's planning processes.
• Be the face of Umeå Municipality in contact with citizens, businesses, etc. in the municipality's construction projects.

Your tasks

This is the role for you who gets energy from leading complex projects and collaborating with others to find solutions. It requires a persistent personality and good project management skills to be successful. You need to enjoy planning, structuring, keeping timelines and budgets, and leading the project group towards a common goal.

You lead projects, and together with your project groups, you create progress to achieve set goals. A day as a project manager is flexible and varied, with project meetings, procurements, site visits, and construction meetings on the agenda. Together with others in the team, you participate and contribute to the development of processes and knowledge exchange among each other.

Your responsibility is to lead the project process from the design and implementation phase to final inspection and handover to the operations organization.

About you

We are looking for someone who has a university degree in civil engineering or has otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. You have previous experience from the industry either as a client, consultant, or contractor and have worked for at least a couple of years as a project manager. We also want you to have good knowledge of the construction industry's standard contracts, AMA, LOU, construction law, etc.

We value that you have a strong interest in sustainable community building and technology. You provide a professional response and work to deliver assigned projects with the right quality and at the right price. As a person, you are structured, positive, flexible, and enjoy collaborating with others. Your ability to independently drive projects forward is important to us.

Your IT skills are good, and you can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and preferably English.

The position requires that you have a B driver's license.
